One day Rubble from PAW Patrol went to a hotel. The hotel was special to him because had left a pawprint there once.
Anyway, right after Rubble left the hotel, he spotted something shiny in the dirt. As soon as he dug it up, he realized that it was a genuine frosted glass diamond pelt--the most valuable thing in Annika's Playland. Rubble rushed to tell the hotel manager about the treasure.
"Treasure, eh?" the hotel manager replied when Rubble said that he had found treasure. "I'll bet that that 'treasure' is a dirty old penny!"
"It is not!" said Rubble, insulted.
"That's what you say," insisted the hotel manager. "It's a dirty old penny and you won't convince me otherwise!"
Feeling very hurt, Rubble tried to tell the mayor about the treasure, but the mayor just said, "I heard from the hotel manager that that 'treasure' is just a dirty old penny!"
Rubble talked to everyone he could think of, but nobody believed that he had found something truly valuable. So finally, Rubble decided to go to the president.
Rubble thought that the president wouldn't believe him, but the president asked Rubble to show him the treasure.
"You mean you haven't heard that it's a dirty old penny?" Rubble couldn't stop himself from asking.
"I have heard that," the president replied truthfully. "But I know that you can't always believe the first thing you hear." So Rubble pulled out the genuine frosted glass diamond pelt, and it was put in a museum.
THE END
Moral: You can't always believe the first thing you hear.
